November 7, 1944 ~ June 10, 2021 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Willie Waddy Obituary

Willie Day Waddy (aka Poochie & Ms. Willie) transitioned to heaven on Thursday, June 10 at her home in Chesterfield, VA after a tough fought battle with congestive heart failure. She was born November 7, 1944 in Radford, VA. Her parents Samuel Stewart and Thelma Day preceded her in death.

Ms. Waddy accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. She was a loving, caring, hard-working and determined person. She would help anyone friend or foe.

Ms. Waddy worked for many years at New River Community College in Dublin, VA. In 1984 she relocated to Chesterfield, VA and worked for the Chesterfield County Government until she retired in 2010.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 38 years William Waddy, Jr.; her daughter, Rhonda Thurman (Michael) of Herndon, VA; her sons, Campbell Burnett of Chesterfield, VA, Kenneth Burnett of Elizabethtown, KY and Perry Burnett of Chesterfield, VA; her sister, Cara Rollins of Radford, VA; her brother, Newell Day of Arlington, VA; her aunts, Constance English (Carlton) of Radford, VA and Patricia Sherman of Washington, DC; her uncle, William Price (Stephanie) of Radford, VA; her grandchildren, Brandon Burnett, Kenneth Burnett, Jr., Levi McComas, Jalen Thurman and Alexis Williams; her mother-in-law, Mary Waddy of Roanoke, VA; sister-in-law, Rosa Smith of Clifton Forge, VA; brother-in-law, Eddie Wallace of Columbus, OH and Jeremiah Waddy (Tamara) of Roanoke, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to Sandy Cullather, Debra Blount, Parlee Jackson and Dedra Gueno for their love and care during Ms. Waddy’s illness.

The family will have a private celebration of Ms. Waddy’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association in memory of Ms. Willie Waddy.

The family has entrusted final arrangements to Wilson & Associates Funeral Service – East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA.
