Willnette E. Whitley departed this life on March 1, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born on July 27, 1942 in Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth James Redd.
Willnette was a product of the Richmond Public School System, where she graduated from Armstrong High School. After High School, she received a certificate in business, and started her career in banking, lasting nearly 30 years, retiring from Bank of America in 2001. After her retirement, she spent time enjoying her family. Willnette was a lover of music, the oldies but goodies -Motown, and her favorite dance was the huckabuck!
Willnette was preceded in death by her husband, Junius Lee Whitley, Jr.; her mother, Elizabeth J. Redd; and two brothers, Stanley and Ralph James.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three children, Sharon Ballout (Gary), Ronald James, Sr., and devoted, Antoine Whitley and devoted daughter-in-law, Jasmeen; her beloved sister, Gwendolyn Mealy (Wilber); four grandchildren, Ronald James, Jr., Meshontes Clack Jones (Julian), JayQuan and Eric Whitley; six great-grandchildren, Canyla, Khy’ron, JaRon and Gianna James, Sir Julian and Queen Nuri Jones; three bonus grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; her favorite niece and nephew, Chontell Stafford and Orry Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 10 am - 7 pm on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2801 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Richmond, VA.
Interment will follow the service at Roselawn Memory Gardens, 13389 Mountain Road, Glen Allen, VA.
