Willie Lee Green, Sr. was born on August 27,1951, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Emma I. and Walter Green Jr. He was one of six siblings. He departed this life on January 29,2025. He was preceded in death by his Father, Walter Green, Jr.; Mother, Emma I. Green; Brother, Walter Green, III; Sisters, Elvada Pettaway, and Iva J. Sukens; and grandson, Davone Thompson.
Willie grew up in the District of Richmond and was educated in that school system. At the age of 20, Willie joined the United States Military. While serving he also continued his education. Willie served in both the Army and the Marines, and was honorably discharged from his duties.
Not long after, Willie decided to peruse some of his many gifts and talents. Many talents led him to future employment opportunities. He considered himself quite blessed, and was humbled and thankful for his many opportunities. Later in his life he worked at McGuire Veteran Hospital as an engineer. Although he had his health challenges, he maintained a regular shift until he was unable to work anymore.
He was not a man of just work and no play. Willie enjoyed cooking, and he was quite good at it. Many people enjoyed his cooking and baking. He also had a passion for riding his motorcycle. As he got older, those two wheels became a three-wheeler. He also was fond of music and traveling on the road. Willie was a loyal Chicago Bears fan. And he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Of his many accolades he was most proud of his children and bonus children. They all exhibited strength, wisdom, endurance, and good characters that were rewarding for him to see. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Willie Green, Jr., and Desmond Green (Sherelle); three daughters, Sherri Green, Tiffany Brooks, and Brittany Brooks; and the devoted love of his life for many years, Pamela Brooks; and two bonus children, Lashonda, and Richard Brooks; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, Sisters, Reaser Copeland, and Priscilla Burton (Al); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family is receiving services of comfort from Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
