Westmore Jones Obituary

Westmore Wilson Jones affectionally known as "Stumpy" was born April 17, 1949 to the late Harold and Clarice Jones of Charles City, Virginia. From this union was born thirteen children. On December 29, 2021, the Lord called him to his reward, and he entered into eternal rest at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia surrounded by his loved ones. Stumpy was preceded in death by his sister Gladys Jones and brother Abraham Jones.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Little Elam Baptist Church in Charles City, Virginia. Later in Stumpy's life he became a member of Union Baptist Church in Hopewell, Virginia. He was educated by the Charles City County Public School System. The majority of his life he worked in the logging industry and the last 15 years before retiring he worked with Pine Crest Timber.

Stumpy was a avid sports fan. He loved to watch baseball no matter who was playing. But during football season you would find him watching Dem' Boyz (Dallas). His other hobbies included reading books and the newspaper, as well as watching westerns on TV. The thing he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends. He was known for his affectionate smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. He will truly be missed.

Our beloved leaves to cherish his memory one son, Charles Crawley (Irma); one daughter, Lolinda Whitehead (Paul); a devoted companion, Annie Harris; three step-daughters, Karen Jones, Sherri Greene, Sharon Greene, devoted (Sapp); one child at heart, Shelly Crawley; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; seven brothers, Harold Jones Jr. (Anna), Clarence Jones Sr., James Jones Sr. (Catherine), Joshua Jones (Shirley), William Jones, Linwood Jones, and Bernard Jones; four sisters, Doris Seabron, Florence Dickerson (James), Allean Cotman (Clarence), Sharon Miffin; three aunts, Virginia Webber, Donnice Jones, and Ann Tabb; devoted friends, Dora and Frederick Draper, Jerry Barnes, Alvin Clark, and James Williams; devoted cousin, Butch Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and caring friends.

Stumpy was loved by everyone and was quick to give a helping hand. A moment in his presence left memories for a lifetime.
