Susie Ree Bridges was born in Georgia, as a daughter of Bertha Hall and Eddie Williams on August 1, 1947. She was the loving sister to Clifford Hall, Willie Lee Hall, Eddie Hall, Betty Jenkins, Lue Bertha Williams, Gussie Jordan, Ida Faye Welch, Louise Hope, and Willie Mae Washington, all of which preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two of her grandchildren, Ebonie, and Jordin Bridges.
Susie was a retired LPN, and she believed in education at any age. She loved the Nation of Islam where she was a member of Muhammad’s Mosque #24 for over 45 years. She modeled for a few years and loved to sew and fellowship with the MGT (Muslim Girls in Training). She also had a love affair with music, and fell in love with listening to the violin because of Minister Louis Farrakhan. She was an avid shopper and loved flowers and gardening. Her favorite flower was the Lily.
Susie met and later married Thurman Bridges, Jr. on November 22, 1969. Their union bloomed three children, Darrick Hall (Tia), Latonya Monique Bridges and Thurman Bridges aka “Dr. Kunta”; whom she leaves to cherish her memories and to carry on her legacy. She also leaves to mourn for her Clifford Bridges, her beloved first-born grandson whom she helped to raise and who resided with her. She also leaves Trevon Booth, Adisa Braxton Hall, Journey Braxton Hall, and Kamau Braxton Hall all of which were her grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and one great-grandchild, Tylan Booth.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, with a viewing held one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
The family of Mrs. Bridges will receive friends throughout the week at the home of Darrick L. Hall, 5621 Backwater Terrace, Richmond, VA 23234.
