Stephanie D. Newton

Stephanie Dezern Newton, 71, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 25, 2020 at home surrounded by family.  She was the daughter of the late Frank and Geraldine Banks; born on March 13, 1949 in Kimberly, WV.  Stephanie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Frank and Geraldine Banks; her husband, Melvin Newton Sr.; sister, Blonzetta Peterson; and brother-in -law, Troy Simley.

Stephanie received her formal education in the Fayette County Public School system in West Virginia.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was Baptised in Kimberly Baptist Church - Kimberly WV.  She retired from the District of Columbia Government after 30 years of service. Her favorite hobbies were cooking for the family and watching Westerns or as she called them "Cowboys".

Stephanie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Melvin Newton Sr., leaving behind to cherish her memory: two children, Melvin Newton ll, Upper Marlboro, MD and Erica Newton, Richmond , VA; three grandchildren, Teyon Newton, Ayden Hill, and Chioma Newton; three sisters, Betty Jones, Fredericksburg, VA, Geral Scott,  Deep Water, WV, and Carol Simley Deep Water, WV; one mother-in-law,  Lucy Newton; one daughter-in-law, Chinwe Newton; three brothers-in law, Billy Rae Peterson, Robert Jones,  and James Scott; three sisters-in-law, Regina Hall, Cynthia Smith, and Gwendolyn Yancey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
