Shirley L. Hill

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, God in His infinite wisdom decided to call home one of his Children, Ms. Shirley Hill.

Ms. Hill was born and raised in Lawrenceville, VA.  Born November 3, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Eliza Steward and Joseph Kelley.   Ms. Hill lived a blessed life up until her death.  She fought a good fight with health issues prior to her passing, but never wavering in her faith and being thankful for the goodness of God. 

Ms. Hill attended Brunswick County High School.  She went on to work for Seven Hills Nurse Care Center where she worked for many years until her retirement.   Ms. Hill had such a loving and giving spirit, and left an impact on all those who knew her.  Although, she always had a big smile, she had an even bigger heart.   She enjoyed cooking and celebrating others.  There were so many touched by her weekly cookouts and gatherings where all were welcome.   Ms. Hill was steadfast to show everyone she encountered love and kindness.  She embodied Galatians 6:10:

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Ms. Hill was preceded in death by her son,  Thomas E. Hill Jr.; and sisters, Pearl Smith and Mary Meredith.   

She leaves to cherish her memories to husband, Thomas Hill; children, LaShanda Scott, Dontae Hill (Robert Price), Annette Hill, Raheem Lightfoot-Hill, and Christina Brooks; grandchildren, MaLike Mars (Mr Rabbit) Myah Scott (Her Baby), Garnique (Momma) Caysa Lee (Lil Earl Jr. 1) Zyian Hall (Lightskin Lil Earl) Charles Scott Jr. (Pippin), Callajah Burchette (Cookie Pune), Major Scott( LoverBoy), Staci Hill(ButtButt), Jeanyah Brooks( Momma), and Savannah Lightfoot; great grandchildren, Nilah Mars and Ace Alejandro Mars; sisters, Depra Peterson (Ronnie Peterson), Threasa Stewart, Lynn Reed and Alice Lightfoot; brothers, Herbert Meredith and Harold Stewart (Yolanda Stewart); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA, with a viewing held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Rose Wright Scott, officiating.

Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery.
