Sandra E. Robinson

Sandra Elizabeth Burrell Robinson was born on February 11, 1957 to the late Herbert Burrell, Sr. and Gloria Burrell in Richmond, Virginia. She was the third oldest of four siblings. Sandra departed this life on May 26, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert Burrell, Sr. and Gloria Burrell.

At an early age Sandra accepted Christ and was baptized at the historic Fifth Baptist Church in the West End of Richmond. She was a proud alumni of Maggie L. Walker High School in Richmond where she graduated in 1975.

In May of 1980 she was united in holy matrimony to Larry Robinson. They have 2 children, Shawn Robinson and Janet Robinson and one grandson - Oliver Robinson.

Sandra was employed with Dominion Virginia Power for 36 years and retired in 2015. She was an enthusiastic and active member of the Central Virginia Diversity Council where she was one of the original members when it formed in 2005.

Sandra was an avid reader - biographies were her favorite. She enjoyed watching football, basketball and shopping for shoes and clothes. Sandra was an excellent DIY home decorator and seamstress as well. She was an active member of St. James Baptist Church and sang with the George Smith Memorial Choir and the Voices of Praise. Her spreadsheet and organizational skills were able to shine every time she was a part of the SJBC Vacation Bible School Registrar team. Sandra was also treasurer of the Pastoral Care Ministry and a member of the Karakul Kraal Sheepfold.

Sandra was not only a loving wife, mother and devoted grandmother, but also a wonderful sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Larry Robinson; one son, Shawn Robinson, daughter-in-law, Crystal Robinson; one daughter, Janet Robinson and her fiancé, Lonnie Smith; one grandson, Oliver Robinson; two sisters, Carolyn Jones and Valerie Muhammad; one  brother, Herbert Burrell Jr. (Felecia),  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA. 

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at St. James Baptist Church, 2169 New Market Rd., Richmond, VA.

Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, VA.
