Mrs. Sally W. Jones, a beloved educator, mentor, and community leader, entered into eternal rest on February 24, 2025. She dedicated over 50 years of her life to shaping young minds as a decorated science teacher at John Marshall High School, where she was a pillar of excellence and inspiration.
A lifelong advocate for education, Mrs. Jones was an active charter member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a sponsor of the National Honor Society, and a proud member of Pi Lambda Theta, the honor society for educators. Her commitment to mentoring teenagers extended beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on countless students who benefited from her guidance and encouragement.
Beyond her professional and community endeavors, Mrs. Jones found joy in traveling and gardening, passions that enriched her life and those around her. Her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering dedication to education and service will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband, Milton B. Jones; her parents, Charles and Virginia Wilkerson; as well as her brother, Anthony Wilkerson, Sr.
She is survived by her son, Michael, and his wife, Jenny; her cherished grandchildren, Martin, Marcus, and Jasmin; her sisters, Joan (Willard) and Verna; her brother, Raymond; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Mrs. Jones leaves behind a legacy of excellence, leadership, and love that will continue to inspire generations to come.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 909 Rennie Avenue, Richmond, VA, with a viewing held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
There will be a repast immediately following internment at St. Paul Catholic Church.
