Roland Pierce, Sr., 89 transitioned peacefully on November 21, 2025. Born on December 14, 1935, in Covington, Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late Elmore Houston Pierce and Edna Carter Pierce and was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Earnestine Howard Pierce.
A man of deep integrity and service, Roland graduated from Watson High School in 1953 and began his career at The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, where he met the love of his life. He later answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1955. Over more than two decades of service, he rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and earned the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement. During his military career, he also became a Mason(Treasurer) of the ASWAN Temple NO. 115 Oassis of Frankurt Desert of Germany in 1974. After retiring from the Air Force, Roland joined Cavalier Fabrics, where he worked from 1978 until his retirement in 2000 as a dedicated member of the supply chain team.
Roland’s life was marked by his deep love for his family, his steady and supportive nature, and his unwavering sense of responsibility. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, duty, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
For years to come, Roland R. Pierce Sr. will be lovingly remembered by his children: Roland R. Pierce Jr, Sheila Pierce Chaplin, Keith Pierce (Cynthia), Jacquelyn Pierce, and Robin Pierce; his grandchildren Tasha, Kienda(Eric), William, Ebony, Sheena(Anthony), Jacques, Sherria, Larnell, and Jordan; and his eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his older sister, Constance Pierce Barnett.
A memorial service, with full military honors, will be scheduled at a later date.
