Robert Dion Wilson

Robert Dion Wilson, age 44, of Charlotte, NC was born on August 14, 1978 to Dr. Elvenia Raye Farrior Wilson and the late Dr. Robert Melvin Wilson.  He suddenly departed this life on November 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Robert M. Wilson; paternal grandparents, Willie James and Nina Moore Wilson; maternal grandparents, James and Anna Mae Hall Farrior; and other relatives. 

Dion, as he was called by many, was a 1996 graduate of James Kenan High School. He later attended ECPI University, where he obtained a certificate in Information Technology.  He was currently employed with PeriGen in Cary, NC, where he utilized his skills and love for the computer and technology industry. 

Dion was a big kid at heart, and was often referred to as a “teddy bear” by his mother and others. He enjoyed playing video games, basketball, and tennis.  He had a heart of gold; portrayed personality; and loved his family and all people. Out of all of his accomplishments, desires, and love for people, his greatest love was for his two loving sons, Robert Keyshawn “DJ” Wilson, and Quenten Deshawn Wilson. They brought him so much joy, and he was a proud father. He took great pleasure in raising them and teaching them how to be responsible young men. They were truly his heart beat. 

Dion leaves to cherish his memory, two loving sons, Robert Keshawn “DJ” Wilson, and Quenten Deshawn Wilson of Winston Salem, NC; mother, Dr. Elvenia Raye Farrior Wilson of Magnolia, NC; sister, Montrena W. Hadley (Michael) of Mebane, NC; brother, Brian V. Wilson of Richmond, VA; seven aunts, Mary Boney (Curnel) of Rose Hill, NC, Ethel Southerland (Jackie), Rev. Janice Wilson, and Rev. Dr. Pamela Faison (Melvin) of Magnolia, NC; Emma Allen of Fayetteville, NC; Gwendolyn Dixon of Philadelphia, PA; and Denise Ward of Landover, MD; uncle, Harry Farrior (Linda) of Fayetteville, NC; nephew, Michael A. Hadley of Burlington, NC; niece, Nina Simone Hadley of Mebane, NC; great-nephew, Lucis Hadley of Burlington, NC; great-niece, Laila Dixon of Burlington, NC; devoted cousins, Jackie "Jay" Southerland, Jr and Kendrick Boney.; co-parenting partner of his two loving sons, Lauretta Uzzell of Winston Salem, NC; devoted best friend, Marcus Allen of Newport News, VA; close friends, Terrell Vann of Magnolia, NC, Raphael Wrenn of Charlotte, NC, Tony Yellock of Burlington, NC, Mel Hall of Clayton, NC, and Dwayne of Raleigh, NC; special friend, Alicia Roberts of Charlotte, NC; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1 - 6 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022 at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home, 195 Kenansville Hwy., Kenansville, NC 28398, with the family receiving friends from 4 - 6 p.m.  

A Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 247 N. Church Street, Kenansville, NC 28349.

Interment will follow at Devotional Gardens, 1260 NC 24  & 50, NC-24, Warsaw, NC 28398.
