Reaser G. Copeland Obituary

Reaser G. Copeland peacefully departed this life at her home on March 8,2026. She was born in Mt. Gilead, North Carolina, one of six children to Walter Green, Jr. and  Emma Green.

She was preceded in death by her parents Walter Green Jr. and Emma Green; her siblings, Elvada Pettaway, Walter Green III, Iva Sukens, and Willie Green; her beloved husband, Rudolph Copeland; and her children, Glendora and Raymond Scott.

Reaser was educated in the Richmond Public School System (Armstrong High School). She devoted more than 30 years of service to the Virginia Department of Labor & Industry, where her strong work ethic and commitment allowed her to rise through the ranks; she ultimately retired as a Statistical Analyst. Her passion for caring for others extended far beyond her professional career. For more than 15 years, she served as a foster parent, opening her home and heart to over 45 children and providing them with stability, love, and guidance.

After retirement, she continued nurturing young lives by operating an in-home daycare for over 10 years. She found great joy in teaching, guiding, and supporting children during their earliest years of growth and development.

Reaser was also a devoted member of Fountain Baptist Church for over 40 years, where she was baptized and a proud member of the choir in her earlier years.

Reaser leaves to cherish her loving memory her sons, Nathaniel Scott, Jr. and Bobby Scott; her grandchildren: Carlette Butler (Duane), Sonya Durham (Marcus), Bobby N. Scott, Jasmine Booker, Nathaniel Scott III (Nadis), Joy Archie (Michael), Nathan Scott, Jewel Scott, Johanna Scott, Nehemiah Scott, Darchelle Minor, Devonte Scott, Trey Scott, Royce Scott, Meosha Moore (Tiyon), and Reaser Hubbard; 27 great-grandchildren; her sister, Priscilla Burton (Al); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, strength, and unwavering love.

Her legacy of faith, service, and compassion will continue to live on through the many lives she nurtured and the family she loved so deeply.
