Paul Linwood Johnson was born on January 30, 1957, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Rosa J. Byrd and Linwood Johnson. He is proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Brenda C. Fisher.
Paul attended Richmond Public Schools and graduated from John Marshall High School with the class of 1975. Following his graduation, Paul went on to further his education at Norfolk State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition and Theory. Paul was a master musician, as he enjoyed playing both the clarinet and keyboard. He composed music and was always enthusiastic about singing “ole school” hits along with his brother Ronald. Paul was employed at the Richmond Times Dispatch in Richmond and in Mechanicsville where he worked in the Distribution Department as a Sorter for several years.
Paul was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church, as he dedicated his life to Christ at a young age. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed fishing, watching football, singing, playing instruments and especially spending time with family. He was affectionately known as “PJ” by his family and friends who will truly miss his presence.
Paul L. Johnson is survived by his sisters Rev. Gloria C. Lucas of Richmond, VA, Margarette J. Page of Baltimore, Maryland and his brother Ronald D. Curenton (Esther) of Richmond, VA. A host of family members including cousins. nieces, nephews and friends including those who will miss his presence at the Fairmount House in Church Hill.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Interment will follow at Maury Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
