Nadine B. White

Nadine Elizabeth Burwell White, age 72, of Richmond, VA entered into eternal rest on May 6, 2023.

Nadine Elizabeth Burwell White, or "Sissy" as she was affectionately called by her family, was born July 14, 1950, in Clarksville, Virginia. She was the fourth child of Kenneth Burwell and Jennie (Small) Burwell. Nadine often expressed fond memories of growing up in the Cedar Grove neighborhood of Clarksville, Virginia—especially the bond she shared with her closest sister and friend, Kenny Marie "Ree" Jean-Louis.

She accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of her life at a very young age and was baptized at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Nadine graduated from West End High School in 1968. From there, she entered the Licensed Practical Nursing program at the Medical College of Virginia, where she graduated in 1977.

Nadine spent her extensive nursing career serving at the Medical College of Virginia and serving as a home health nurse. However, later in her career, Mrs. White found her calling in serving as a pediatric nurse.

Nadine extended her nursing skills to caring for and supporting many family members. She was a good and dedicated nurse, which showed in various aspects of her life.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Jennie Burwell, her sister, Eva Bond, her daughter, Janice Turner, and her brother, William H. Burwell. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Allen Andrew White, and her best friend, Madeline Broadie.

Nadine loved life. Her children and grandchildren were her world. She loved laughing, cooking, fishing, traveling, reading, dancing, and spending time with those she loved.

Nadine's family will always cherish her beautiful life. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her devoted daughters, Na-Keisha A. White and Krystle Woodfin (Kurt), and two grandchildren, Aleigha White-Barfied and Dylan Leigh Woodfin. Also to cherish her memory are her loving sisters, Julia Long, Kenny Marie Jean-Louis, Pastor Priscillae A. Burwell, and her devoted sister-in-law Anna Marie White. She also leaves to cherish her precious memory, a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her loyal pets, King and Blue, will surely miss their favorite human.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2023 at Wilson & Associates'  Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. 

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, 3101 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
