Milton B. Jones Obituary

In loving memory of an extraordinary individual, Milton Booker T. Jones. Our dear departed friend was an 84-year-old African American born in 1939 in Blackstone, Virginia. His mother, Alease Oliver lived for 96 years and instilled an intense work ethic in Milton at a young age.

Milton proudly served in the US Army joining in 1959, and late transitioned into a successful career as a long-distance truck driver. His journey continued to flourish as he entered retail sales and sales management, achieving the prestigious President's Club Award and holding positions as a senior sales and marketing representative for BT Ginns International.

Known for his remarkable ability to connect with people from various cultures and races, he earned a "PHD in People." Milton’s toolbox was often loaded with entertaining stories that were quite enduring and humorous. With a passion for learning, Milton mastered new trades through self-teaching via YouTube and Google, excelling in locksmithing, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, and gardening. Beyond his personal growth, he generously extended helping hands to neighbors and friends on countless occasions, contributing to various projects.

Throughout 54 years of marriage, he and his beloved wife Sally explored the world together, both domestically and internationally. Together they enjoyed motorcycling, golfing, boating, fishing, and playing croquet.

“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” - Acts 20:35

This scripture reflects the spirit of Milton’s work life, emphasizing the importance of hard work, generosity, and helping others. His dedication to learning new skills, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his ability to connect with people.  May his legacy of selflessness and compassion be a source of inspiration for us all. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he befriended, the skills he mastered, and the kindness he shared with everyone he met.

Milton departed this life on January 14, 2024 and leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sally W. Jones; son, Michael W. Jones; daughter-in-law, Jenny B. Jones; grandchildren, Martin W. Jones, Marcus W. Jones, and Jasmin M. Jones; brother-in-law, Raymond Wilkerson; sisters-in-law, Verna Edward, and Joan Johnson (Willard Johnson); and a host of loving relatives, neighbors, and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
