Michelle L. Johnson

Missionary Michelle Louise Johnson was born October 21, 1960 in Richmond, Virginia. She attended Webster Davis Elementary School and graduated to Armstrong High School, completing her educational studies upon graduating from Hermitage High School.

Michelle attended the Holy Bible Church of God at 401 Louisiana Street under the leadership of the Late Bishop Woodson Washington. Missionary Johnson later would serve under the leadership of her father, Pastor Raymond Kenney. Missionary Johnson was in charge of the Hospitality Committee; she led the Devotional Service with spirit and eagerness every Sunday with her faithful tambourine.

She was employed by VCU Medical Center for over 15 years, however, due to the declining health of her husband, she elected to resign from her job to care for him. She enjoyed music, going to the park and sitting under her favorite tree reading her bible, and cooking.

Missionary Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, Minister Waddell Johnson, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Waddell Johnson, Jr., and Eric Johnson; her parents, Pastor Raymond Kenney, and Evangelist Doris Kenney; two sisters, Clarissa Thompson (Keith), and Natalie Corvette Kenney; six aunts; Evangelist Shirley Coleman, Ella Jones, Maria Brown, Edith Coleman, Susan Winn, and Virginia Kenney; one uncle, Patrick Brown, Sr., and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends 

 A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Richmond, VA.  

The family is receiving services of comfort from Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
