On Saturday, October 25, 2025, Larry Samuel Braxton Sr., transitioned from his earthly journey to his eternal rest. Born to the late Frank, Sr. and Edith Braxton, Larry was a graduate of the Richmond Public School system - Armstrong High School.
At an early age, Larry gave his life to Christ, and was baptized at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Chesterfield, VA.
Larry moved from Richmond to New York where he lived for over 40 years. While in New York, Larry joined,-served and worshiped at the Bethel Baptist Church in Mt. Kisco, NY and the Union Baptist Church in White Plains, NY. He served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Larry always gave a helping hand wherever there was a need. Larry had a true heart for the Lord and serving.
He worked and retired from the Town of Greenburgh, New York. After his retirement, he decided to move back home, closer to family, which led him to Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Everything became full circle, he found a Pastor and church family he joined to continue his worship and service to the Lord.
Larry loved working on cars, football (NY Giants), gospel music ,jazz, good food , fun and laughter. He loved to have a good time - always smiling.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Reynolds Braxton; his brother, Frank Braxton, Jr.; and his youngest son, Sean Braxton.
He is survived by his sons, Larry Braxton, Jr., Ned Reynolds (Brucine),and Christopher Reynolds; his two sisters, Patricia B. Mines (Isaac); Sharon B. Loving (Linward); a niece, Alicia L. Scott; two granddaughters, Teara Braxton, Alexa Reynolds Fisher (KJ); two grandsons, Jason Braxton and Thomas Hanson (Erica), eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Larry also leaves to cherish his memory 3 faithful and devoted friends that he truly loved and they loved him, Maxine Tillman, Rochelle Roan, and Gladys Wilder.
Larry was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 8775 Mt. Olive Avenue, Glen Allen, VA.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
