Kevin LaMont Harris was born on January 3, 1970, in Farmville, Virginia, to Nelson Harris and Eva Harris-Rasheed. He spent the first eleven years of his life in Saxe, Virginia, a small country town in Charlotte County.
At an early age, Kevin accepted Christ and was baptized at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Randolph, Virginia. Later, he moved with his family to Richmond, Virginia, where he attended Falling Creek Elementary and Middle Schools and went on to graduate from Meadowbrook High School in 1989. As an adult, he became a member of Chicago Avenue Baptist Church.
Kevin was deeply loved by his family and had a special gift for connecting with people. He never met a stranger - always greeting others with a warm smile and infectious laughter. He cherished time spent with loved ones, especially during family gatherings and holidays, where his presence brought joy and unity.
Affectionately known as “Batman,” a nickname he earned in high school, Kevin had a lively personality and a love for entertaining. In 1986, he showcased his talent as a rapper during a talent show at Meadowbrook High School, performing under the name “Kid Spice” alongside his friend Mike Cooper, known as “DJ Mike Nice.” Their performance electrified the crowd, and their friendship remained strong over the years.
Kevin had a passion for sports and was a dedicated Miami Dolphins fan. He also enjoyed boxing, mixed martial arts, and basketball. At home, he had a consistent TV routine - faithfully watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and never missing the 11:00 nightly local news.
Known for his generosity and caring spirit, Kevin shared a father’s love with children who were not his own, embracing them fully, making each feel deeply loved and cherished.
Kevin lived life to the fullest. Even as his health declined, he remained courageous, hopeful, and strong until the very end.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Nelson; his mother, Eva; his sister, Katrina; his bonus brother, Kevin Jerome; his bonus mother, Cynthia; his bonus father, Ray; and a host of loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
