Kenneth Zinnerman, Jr.

Kenneth Zinnerman, Jr., of Richmond, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born in Darlington, South Carolina on May 28, 1946, to the late Kenneth “Biggie” Zinnerman and Elizabeth Saunders Purvis. He was the youngest of eleven children.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Willie; sisters, Joann, Josephine, Rosebud, and Edith; and grandson, KaShawn Kenneth Wayne Thomas.

Kenneth moved with his family to Richmond, Virginia in 1956. His spiritual journey began at an early age where he accepted Christ and was baptized and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Kenneth was educated in the Richmond Public School System, later he served in the Army and Army Reserve. Upon discharge, he was employed at Nabisco as a Supervisor, then employed with Richmond Public Schools Department of Transportation.

Kenneth enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, and listening to music, including two of his favorite groups, the Whispers, and the O’Jays.

Kenneth, a father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and a friend, leaves to cherish in his memories his daughter, Shamara Zinnerman; grandchildren Natasha, Ashley, and Shardye Zinnerman, great-grandchildren, Joshua Zinnerman, Jalen Temple, Antonio Cain, Bryson Carter, Charlie Zinnerman, and Aubree Spearman, sister, Carrie Davis, brothers Thomas and Roosevelt (Betty) Purvis, and Tony Zimmerman, nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He Will Be Missed.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 in the W.J. Wilson Celebration of Life - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, with a viewing held one hour prior to the service.
