Keith D. Ampey

With hearts filled with love and deep sorrow, the family of Keith Donell Ampey announces his peaceful passing on October 11, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia. Born and raised in the Church Hill
community, Keith’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, kindness, and perseverance. He entered this world May 4, 1957 at St. Phillip Hospital, and from the very beginning, his gentle nature and
generous spirit would come to define his journey.

A retired chef, Keith found joy in sharing his gift for cooking. His meals were prepared with love, and his kitchen was a place where family and friends gathered, laughed, and left with full hearts and full plates. To Keith, food was more than nourishment—it was his way of expressing care and connection.

He was also an avid fisherman, finding peace and purpose in the quiet stillness by the water. Keith loved the outdoors and the sense of calm that fishing brought to his spirit. In his younger years, he played football in school, a passion he carried into adulthood as a devoted fan, rarely missing a game on TV. Keith’s faith was the anchor of his life. He attended Saint Paul’s Baptist Church, where he enjoyed worship, fellowship, and the Word of God. His faith guided his actions and shaped his outlook. He believed in thinking on things that are good, uplifting, and worthy of
praise—truths reflected in Philippians 4:8.

Keith’s legacy of love continues through his children: Aisha Langry, Shakir Langry, N’Namdi Langry, Islam Shabazz Allah, India Smith, Keith Kidd, and Danta Whiters, along with 19 cherished
grandchildren; siblings, Cynthia Thompson, Merle Hill, Walter & Wayne Ampey, as well as a host of other family members and friends.

A viewing will be held from 10 am - 7 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service, 5004 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA.  

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Paul's Baptist Church, 4247 Creighton Road, Richmond, VA. 

Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family is receiving services of comfort from Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service, 5004 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA.
