Joseph Christopher Turpin, known to many as “Buddy” or “Joe T”, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. He was born on July 16, 1954 to the late Joseph T. and Etta Victoria Turpin. He was also predeceased by his sister, Peggy Mae Gentry.
“Buddy” confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Charles City, VA. He was a 1973 graduate of Charles City High School and later attended the Atlantic School of Airlines in California for airline ticket agents. Over the years, “Buddy” worked as a truck driver for various businesses, later working in Maintenance Services for various apartment complexes.
“Buddy” was mostly a “homebody” and for those who truly knew him, he put his “Do Not Disturb” sign on from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., it was soap opera time – The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Beyond the Gates – he was adamant about not answering the telephone! He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, he loved ‘dem boyz! ★
It was early Wednesday morning, around 9:12 a.m., his loving mother asked God for a special birthday present, to peacefully cease his breathing struggle and bring him to her for her birthday, and He did just that!
“Buddy” leaves to cherish his memories his loving companion of nearly 30 years, Connie Junius; a daughter, Rachele Wilson of Dowagiac, Michigan; one bonus son, Sharaun Junius; three grandchildren, Tarya, Victor and Elaiyh in Michigan; two bonus grandchildren, Kharaun and Destiny Junius, who affectionately called him “PaPa”; five great-grandchildren in Michigan; two sisters, Vicky Allen (Donald) and Rita Randolph (Irvin); his Queen/mother-in-law at heart, Mrs. Glennis Junius; two sisters-in-law at heart, Olivia and Lena Junius; three aunts, Princetta Smith, Ceressa Randolph (Norman) and Nellie Turpin; one devoted uncle, Herald “Bootsie” Christian (Sarah) of Fontana, CA. “Buddy” was affectionately known as “uncle” by two nieces, Jenee Crump and one devoted, Nicole Allen; six nephews, Dwayne Gentry, Kevin Crump, Jarrod Allen, Justin and Jonathan Randolph and Tyrell Junius; a host of other relatives and friends – among them devoted, Prince Allen, Willie Allen, Gus Christian, Curtis Gordon, Patsy Johnson, Vanita Vaughan; and his loving second mom, Mary Short.
A viewing will be held from 10 am - 6 pm on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA..
The interment will follow the funeral service at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 5801 Old Union Road, Charles City, VA.
