Joanne Pleasants

Joanne "Jodi" Pleasants, 72, entered into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.  She was a faithful member of Saint Paul's Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. 

Joanne was born on May 24, 1953 to Joe and Maebell Pleasants of Hanover County, Virginia.  She attended Hanover County Public Schools and became a professional Nail Technician in Richmond and Hampton, Virginia.  

Fun loving, stylish, jovial and creative, Joanne was a master at all she endeavored to do.  She resided in Newport News, Virginia for over 25 years and was a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she worked relentlessly as an early Child Care Teacher and Food Service technician. 

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Tyricka Caple, son-in-law Gregory Caple Sr., grandchildren, Taylor Clarke, Kelsey Clarke Colvin (Adam Colvin), Tony Judd, Charlette Caple, Gregory Caple Jr.; great grandson, Nasir Caple; Loyal siblings, Dorothy Pleasants, Cheryl Thompson, Francine Whitfield, Andrew Pleasants, Arnette Pleasants, and Joe Pleasants Jr.  Along with a host of loving nieces and nephews. 

Joanne will be reunited in heaven with her parents Joe and Maebell Pleasants, Grandmother, Mary Jane Pleasants, and sister, Selena Dance. 

We will miss Joanne's lovely smile, bubbly personality, and dancing spirit.  We rejoice in the promise of eternal life. She is now at peace in the arms of her Savior.

A memorial service will be held at a 11 am on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at St. Paul's Baptist Church, 4247 Creighton Road, Richmond, VA.

A repast will take place at 12:45 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the American Legion Post 144, 1717 Old Hanover Road, Sandston, VA. 

The family is receiving services of comfort from Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
