James W.R. Cosby, Sr.

James William Russell Cosby, Sr. was born on May 23, 1950 to the late Jordan Cosby and Maggie Lee Walker Cosby. He was called to eternal rest on August 25, 2025.

James attended John M. Gandy High School and throughout his life he loved cars, fishing, and football. He especially loved watching his favorite team, the Washington Commanders. He was a kind man and was loved by his family and friends.

James leaves to cherish his memories, his son James Cosby, Jr. and his two grandchildren, Camryn Bowman and Isaiah Cosby. He also leaves precious memories with his brother Tyrone Cosby, and his sisters, Frances Christian, Ruthie Brown, and Mary Davis. His family and friends are forever grateful for the life he lived.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025. 

Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
