James E. Waddy, Sr. peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 4, 2025, in Mechanicsville, VA. He was the son of the late Fred C. and Ruth H. Waddy, and the brother of the late Fred R. Waddy.
He attended Hanover County Public Schools and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ through baptism at an early age. He was the fourth child of nine children.
Duct-tape and WD-40 were his favorites, as he could fix or jerry-rig ANYTHING. Lawnmowers and vehicles were his specialties, “anything with a motor”. In the trucker world, he was known for his CB radio handle, “Broken Arrow.” He worked for several trucking and taxi companies, long-distance at times. Further into his career, ESTES Express Lines, Wyatt Transfer, and D. W. Cary Hauling completed 30 years of “keep on trucking”. He had an affectionate love for his trucker buddies, who have preceded him in death.
He was united in matrimony to his devoted wife, Marian Shirley Dandridge (he fondly referred to her as “Fats”), on December 26, 1957. After 67 years of marriage, he is survived by his wife, Marian D. Waddy; daughter, Marvette Waddy; sons, Marvin Waddy and James E. Waddy, Jr. (Denise); grandsons, Justin A. Waddy (Tynetta) and Markus D. Waddy; granddaughter, Taylor
N. Waddy; great-granddaugher, Eden N. Waddy; four sisters; two brothers; and a host of nieces and nephews.
