Our beloved, James Edward Corbin, affectionately known as “Rabbit” was born to the late James Perry Corbin and Mary Ethel Banks, on December 26, 1957.
On Monday, March 10, 2025, James suddenly passed away.
James accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at the First Mount Olive Baptist Church, in Newton, VA. Then he attended St. Paul’s Baptist Church in King William, VA until his death.
He graduated from King and Queen Central High School in 1977.
James worked as Volt Specialist and then later worked for Ball Lumber for several years.
James enjoyed being at church, buying the ice cream for the children at the community apartments and assisting the seniors at King William Manor. He had a great love for old cars and being with family and friends. He loved working out doing his 150 push-ups every day and feeding the squirrels at the apartments.
James was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. He was always happy to help anyone who was in need. He played a major role in the community of King and Queen and King William County. Once James gave his life to Jesus, his saying was “I am with the Lord” and “Thank the Lord! Thank the Lord!”
He is preceded in death by her parents; James Perry Corbin and Mary Ethel Banks, and a daughter; Tiawanda Deyo.
James leaves to cherish fond memories to a son; Marque Trivel Deyo (Carla) of Houston, Texas. Three grandchildren; Kayleigh Deyo, of Newton, VA. Brielle Deyo and Landyn Deyo of Houston, Texas. A sister; Cynthia Alisa Garnett (Eric) of St. Stephens Church, VA. Three aunts; Joan Hill, of Newton, VA., Thelma Johnson of St. Stephens Church, VA., and Gloria Gains (Nathan) of Hustle, VA. One uncle; Marvin Baylor, of Richmond, VA. And a host of cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at First Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 7820 Newtown Rd., Newtown VA, where a funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving services of comfort from Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
