Jamal was born in Richmond, VA to Junius "Ted" and Michelle Johnson on January 16, 1992. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Helen Mealy (maternal grandmother) and Kermit Smith, Sr. (Maternal grandfather.)
Jamal attended Highland Springs High School, where he graduated in 2010. He worked various jobs and even got into entrepreneurship, selling clothes, hats, and miscellaneous items. He loved football (Washington Redskins) and was a collector of baseball cards and memorabilia. He loved listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. Jamal recently started taking interest in going to the gym and working out. Jamal was a jokester, there was never a dull moment around him. He made sure to make everyone in his presence laugh and smile. He loved his children so much. He and Jamyra shared a special bond that he cherished dearly. He always said she is the female version of him.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving father Junius "Ted" Johnson and loving devoted mother Michelle Johnson, his brothers Qu'Vale Johnson and Amarion Johnson, his sisters Shanique (Missy) Johnson, Dar'Chelle Atkins, and Theressa Manley (sister in love) his children Jamal Johnson, Jr. and Jamyra Johnson, his nieces and nephew , Jordyn, Jadynn, Tania, Alani, and Sincere, his grandparents Haywood and Valarie Swearingen, his great grandparents Mary Jo Smith, (maternal) and Elder Richard Tucker (paternal) and his aunts Mary Mealy, Edith Mealy, Helen Williams, Patricia Warren, Pastor Tomeka Miles (Apostle Guy) and Devina Simmons (Fred) his uncles Cedric Swearingen, Shaquille Smith, Charles Mealy, and Kermit Smith, Jr. and a host great aunts, relatives, and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memories his devoted friends Crystal, Shay, and Tiffany. Jamal will truly be missed by everyone that knows and loves him.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. 7 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
