Harry S. Lane Obituary

Mr. Harry Samuel Lane, a beloved member of the Richmond community, entered eternal rest on August 13, 2024, at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, after a courageous battle with illness.

Born on March 16, 1954, to Beatrice and the late Bernard Lane, Sr., Harry grew up in Richmond, where he received his education through the Richmond Public Schools system. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy before embarking on a career with Westvaco Corporation and DuPont. In addition, Harry shared his talents and skills as a painter, independently transforming homes with his craftsmanship.

Harry was known for his remarkable kindness and generosity. His life was a testament to selflessness; he was always ready to lend a hand or offer a helping heart, often going above and beyond to support those around him. His unwavering compassion and willingness to assist others defined his character, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Harry is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Lane, Sr.; his sister, Lillian Lewis; and his brother, Bernard Lane, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Lane; his siblings Beatrice Burton, Donna Polat, Burrell Lane, Linwood Lane, Derek Lane, and Calvin Lane; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
