Harry O. Otey

Harry Ollie “Bay Boy” Otey, 84, of Providence Forge, Virginia, peacefully entered eternal rest on April 29, 2025. Born on April 24, 1941, in Providence Forge, he was a proud lifelong resident of the community and received his education through New Kent County Public Schools.

Harry dedicated many years of his life to hard work and perseverance, retiring from the Nabisco Company, where he was a valued employee and friend to many. In his early years, he found joy and faith in attending Mt. Calvary International Church, where his spiritual foundation was first laid.

He was born to the late Virginia O. Jones and was preceded in death by his beloved son, Harry E. Otey.

He leaves to cherish his memory two loving children: daughter Felicia Otey (Nathaniel White) and son Vincent E. Otey (Trina Johnson). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Vincent Otey, Jr. (Ashley Otey), Josalyn Brown, Shortesha Otey, Dante Otey, Shante Otey, Runisha Otey, and Marissa Pressey, as well as one step-grandchild, Antonio White.

Harry was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Trevon Otey, Harmony Otey, Kiara Brown, Rodney Brown, Christopher Kennedy, Jr., Kinasha Otey, LaNiya Alexander, Jair Morton, and Zayveon Todd.

He will be fondly remembered by one devoted friend, Geraldine Spurlock, and a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss his presence, humor, and generous heart.

Harry Otey’s legacy of love, resilience, and dedication to family and community will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A viewing will be held from 1 - 7 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Church International Cemetery, Providence Forge, VA. A repast will immediately follow the interment at Harry's home at 5901 Golden Wheel Road, Providence Forge, VA. 

The family is receiving services of comfort from Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
