Gloria Trent Obituary

Gloria Mae Trent (83) was born Jan. 8, 1939. She received her heavenly wings on November 27, 2022 due to numerous health complications. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Harvey Sr. & Helen Golden, sister Phyllis, brother Harvey Golden Jr., her husband, Stuart Augusta Trent, and her daughter, Valerie Trent. She is survived by her brother, William Golden (Amanda), four daughters, Cheryl Trent, Renee Trent-Smoot, Diane Cannon (Frank), Stephanie McAdams (John), (13) grandchildren, (29) great-grandchildren, (2) god daughters, (4) nephews, (4) Nieces, and an abundance of friends and loved ones.

Gloria was raised in Richmond, Virginia, where she attended the public school system. She graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School in 1957. Gloria later attended J. Sargeant Reynolds College where she graduated in 1979 with an Associate’s Degree in Child Development. She was employed by Richmond Public Schools for over 30 years. She faithfully worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for students with special needs. Gloria retired from RPS in 2002.

Gloria joined Woodville Church of the Nazarene in 1978 under the leadership of Rev. Roland Chopfield Sr., and continued membership under the leadership of Dr. Charles Tillman. Her membership extended a span of 44 years. While belonging to Woodville Church, she held many leadership positions; such as: Choir Member, Children’s Ministry Director, Sunday School Teacher and Children’s Camp Director. She was an avid supporter of the Church in regular attendance and giving of tithes & offerings.

Gloria was a faithful believer and enjoyed reading her bible, listening to gospel music, watching movies, and being with her family. She was well-loved by her church family and was a confidant and role model to many. Gloria had a contagious spirit and was a shining light to all that knew her. Her favorite scripture was 1st Corinthians 15:58. She emphasized God first; and then family and friends. Although Gloria had some health issues, she lived life to its fullest and finest. She loved people and being in the company of others. Gloria had a way of making everyone who came to know her, feel special and like a part of her own family.

A viewing will be held 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service, 5008 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA. 

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Woodville Church of the Nazarene, 2012 Selden Street, Richmond, VA 23223. 

Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. 

The family has entrusted final arrangements to Wilson & Associates Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA. 23223.
