Gene A. Robinson, Jr.

Gene A. Robinson, Jr. was born on January 30, 1937 in Hampton, Virginia to Arthur “Guy” Robinson and Lavinia Elaine Hannah-Robinson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice E. Randolph (B.B.) and Janice C. Rice (Robin).

Gene graduated from Phenix High School and joined the Air Force in 1954, being honorably discharged in 1958. He had various driving jobs in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. He retired from Prince George’s County Public Schools in 2013, and relocated to Richmond, VA in 2017 to be near his family.

Gene liked bowling, golf, and boxing. He was the Washington Commanders #1 fan. He enjoyed Jazz, soft R&B, and Duwai.

He is survived by his children, Vonda Jones, Tamiko Robinson, Charles Jones (Chuck), and Timothy Jones; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a loving sister, Lisa Robinson-Gorham (Orlando); a host of nieces, nephews, friends, including his former wife, Ella Jones and his devoted friend, Sharon Lilly.

A viewing will be held from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA.
