On Monday, March 13,2023, God called home one of His earthly angels. Surrounded by her family, Frances Johnson Brown departed this life into the presence of the Lord.
She was born February 26, 1940, to the late Foster and Anna Johnson. She attended and graduated school in Lightfoot, Va., and was the Valedictorian (7th grade) and Salutatorian (11th grade) of her class. Frances retired from the New Kent Public Schools as a bus driver for 25 years and she also worked in the cafeteria for several years.
Frances joined Union Baptist Church in Charles City, Va., at. The age of 10, and later joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church, now Mount Calvary Church International (MCCI). She loved singing and appreciated the opportunity to sing in church many times, singing hymns her mother and Aunt sang. She also loved fishing with her late husband and friends. But most of all, she loved her family and family gatherings at Cheryl's house.
Frances leaves a legacy of devoted family and friends. Among them her loving daughters, Chenita B. Pierce, Cheryl B. Terry (Willie), and Cathy Brown. Granddaughter Cheredda Mayfield (Eddie), Grandson Christopher Terry, sister, Anna Adele Brown (Aljunior), devoted niece and caretaker Donna Morris, (who she called her nurse) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her late husband William J. Brown, siblings, Marylee Brown, Madeline Baylor, Foster Johnson (Twin), Lewis, James and Melvin Frazier.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Mount Calvary Church International, 5200 Mountcastle Rd., Providence Forge, VA 23140.
Interment will follow the service at Mt. Calvary Church International Cemetery, 5200 Mountcastle Rd., Providence Forge, VA 23140.
The family has entrusted arrangements to Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA
