Evelyn D. Davis

Evelyn Delores Davis was born on January 21, 1951. She was the daughter of Linwood Baylor, Sr. and Helen Vaughan. Evelyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Clayton Alfonzo Davis, Jr.; her parents; three sisters, Shirley Coles, Linda and Helen Dandridge; four brothers, Clarence Vaughan, Michael, Harry and Joseph Dandridge.

“Mookie” as everyone called her was a wonderful, caring, loving, and hardworking woman who allowed God to be her guide throughout life. She was a devoted wife and caregiver to Cookie until his final days. She was the best mother and everyone knew how much she loved Tom, Huck, and Ronnie. Her love for her grandchildren was like no other, whatever they wanted, they could get from grandma. Her loving personality shined and reflected on everyone she met. The best way she showed her love was through her cooking. Sunday at Mookie’s house has always been family time with a hot cooked meal. Besides cooking, Mookie loved good music and would get up to dance if Frankie Beverly was playing. If she was not cooking, you could find her watching basketball rooting for Steph Curry to, “do his thing”.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Thomas and Reginald (Daphne) Davis; one daughter, Sharonda Samuels; one granddaughter, Latrice Davis; four grandsons, Marvin and Isaiah Davis, Tramel and Mason Samuels; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Davis; two devoted sisters, Dorothy Mayo (Tony) and Juanita Brown; three brothers, Everett Dandridge, Linwood Baylor, Jr. and Leon Baylor; devoted cousin, Edith Vaughan and five devoted friends, Joan Lewis, Melvina Tillman, Karen Robinson, Annette Jefferson, and George Kenney.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, with the family receiving friends from 5 - 7 p.m. 

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 in Wilson & Associates'  W.J. Wilson Celebration of Life - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
