Ernestine G. Allen

Ernestine Gladys Allen, age 81, of Charles City, VA departed this life on April 22, 2025. 

Born on December 27, 1943, to the late Theodore and Arlene Hampton-Bell, she was a proud graduate of Ruthville High School and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was employed with Bell Atlantic for 40 years, where her dedication and warmth left a lasting impression.

She was preceded in death by her husband Isaac Allen and her sons, Alonzo and Marvin Allen, as well as other beloved extended family members.

Ernestine had a deep love for simple joys—thrifting, flowers, sewing, her cats, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering love will remain with us forever.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving son, Savalas; Three precious grandchildren, Vernette, Victoria, and Savalas Jr.; One devoted sister, Doris E. Tabb; A caring brother, Franklin Brown; And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She also leaves behind Rin Johnson, who was like a son to her and remained lovingly by her side. Her legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength will live on in every life she touched.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Little Elam Baptist Church, 8840 Church Lane, Charles City, VA, with a viewing held one hour prior to the service. 

Interment will follow in Little Elam Baptist Church Cemetery, Charles City, VA.
