It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elsie R. Coleman, a beloved matriarch, who left us peacefully at age of 82. Born in Emporia, Virginia, Elsie was a force of nature, known for her larger-than-life personality that would guarantee you a chuckle.
Elsie lived a good life. She spent most of her time here as a homemaker and devoted mother to her children. Elsie was not just a mother and grandmother; she was a storyteller, and a source of wisdom for all who knew her. Elsie believed in giving back to the community. She was a dedicated volunteer at Richmond housing Authority for years. Her hobbies included crocheting, crossword puzzles, and wood crafting.
Elsie was happily married to William Coleman, Sr. until his passing. Her loved ones include her beloved partner, Rudolph Pleasant; daughter, Fiesta Sandiford (Claude, Jr.); Son, Lorenzo Coleman; her deceased son, William Coleman and her sister, Linda Green. She has three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren all of whom carry her fiery spirit in their hearts. Love for Ms. Elsie extended beyond her family, reaching friends, neighbors and those who cherished her kindness and infectious enthusiasm for life.
