Dorothy Thompson Graves, affectionately known as Molly, was born on December 2, 1939 to the late Dorothy Hope. On Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Molly completed her earthly journey and is now praising and rejoicing with her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her son, Angelo Thompson and her stepdaughter, Cheryl Pack.
Molly grew up in the Jackson Ward community. She attended Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School. On December 8, 1962, Molly married Robert “Buster” Graves; a union that lasted sixty-two years.
Her faith was always anchored in the Lord. She dedicated her life to God, family, and friends. She loved being around and worshipping with the Abundant Praise Christian Fellowship Church Family. Molly was a dedicated unit clerk at the Medical College of Virginia (VCU Hospital) for over twenty-five years. After retirement, Molly continued to work various part time jobs including security at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and in the cafeteria at Glen Lea Elementary School.
She was truly a talented and creative person who enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and sewing. She was also an avid cookbook collector. Molly left a lasting impression with everyone she encountered with her charismatic personality.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Robert “Buster” Graves; stepdaughter, Sharon Baker; two granddaughters, Ayana and Lakeda Thompson; one brother; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and longtime friends.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA.
