Davie James Lewis entered into eternal rest on June 23, 2020 at Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 24, 1949 in Louisa County to the late Lou W. Lewis and Bessie Minor. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ben Lewis and Shirkey Lewis.
Davie joined the New Line Baptist Church at an early age under the late Reverend P. H. West. He was a member of the Senior Choir and he was a parking attendant during homecoming each year. In 2009, he joined the First Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Henry McNeill. He served in the Usher Ministry.
He was employed by James River Nursery for over 30 years. He later retired due to health. He loved softball and baseball. For several years, he was the manager of Orchid As softball team. His favorite football team was Philadelphia Eagles. His favorite pastime included watching westerns.
He leaves to cherish his memories three brothers, Deacon Lou Lewis, Elder Wayne Lewis (Linda) and Chastine Lewis (his friend Rosalyn); two sisters, Reverend Virginia Farmer and Mary Watkins (Chris); two aunts, Daisy Kinney and Hannah Price; two uncles, Haywood Minor(Beulah), Herman Watson; his devoted lady friend, Eva Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A viewing will be held 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Wilson & Associates Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Louis Cemetery, 501 March Hawk Lane, Mineral, VA.
