Constance Y. Morris Obituary

Constance Yvette Morris, also known as “Connie”, was born June 4, 1968, to Eddie R. Winston, Jr., and her mother, the late Jacqueline E. Taylor Wilkerson Morris. Connie departed this life on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Connie was born and raised in Ashland, Virginia, graduating from Patrick Henry High School in 1988. She attended J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and Virginia State University.

She began her career in retail. She then worked at a daycare for toddlers and infants and was later employed by the Hanover County Public School System as a bus monitor for four years. She had strong faith in GOD. She loved her church, her pastor, and its members. She always said, “GOD will make a way.”

Connie enjoyed reading, listening to music, and talking with family and friends. She had a very special group of ladies that she would refer to as her “ladybugs”, these ladies: Pearl Davis, Willie Mae Drumgole, Geneva Fountain, Doris Nowlin, Elnora Timberlake, and Yvonne Wright held a very special place in her heart. Over the years she also developed a close relationship with many friends including Shirlene A. Bruce, Gladys Cooper, Rev. Belinda Cosby, Michelle T. Davis, Susie Jackson, Rev. Dr. John Kinney, Grace Washington, and Mae Winston.

Connie Truly believed in family. Life to her meant being around family and friends. She had very fond memories of being with her family, growing up with her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, in Ashland on Snead Street, where she lived at her grandmother’s home. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her cousin, Latonya Ruth, and her sister, Rochelle Winston-Tutwiler. Two of her favorite places were being at home in her apartment and with her brother, Keith. She always had a smile for everyone. She had a winning smile. If she smiled at you, you couldn’t help but smile.

Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Jacqueline E. Taylor Wilkerson Morris; stepfather, Richard Morris; her brothers, Richard and Anthony Wilkerson, and Eddie Winston, III; grandparents, Marie Taylor, Eddie R. Winston, and Emily Winston; her aunt, Dorothy M. Ruth, and her Uncle Walter C. Ruth.
