On March 3, 1940, Ms. Carrie Lee Pitchford was born in North Carolina to the late Elnora Morgan. She was blessed to marry the love of her life, the late Ulysses Pitchford, Sr., and from their union six children were born. In 1964, she and her family moved to Richmond, Virginia where she devoted her time to her family and attending church on Sundays. Carrie worked at Bill’s Barbeque for over twenty years and joined Temple of Judah where she turned her life over to God. She later attended Sharon Baptist Church where she was always fifteen minutes early for service, which she would still consider to be late! The inspirational messages she always shared were to pray, trust in God, take good care of yourself, always be thankful, and to know that God is everything.
Carrie is preceded in death by four of her sons, Ulysses Pitchford, Jr., Bernard Pitchford, Sr., Van Pitchford, and Matthew Pitchford; as well as one granddaughter, Linda Lawson. She leaves behind to cherish her memory one son, Dana Pitchford (Sheila); one daughter, Carrie Pitchford (Walter); and one sister, Delores Austin Williams. Precious memories are also left with her grandchildren, Dana Pitchford, Jr., Danielle Pitchford, Kenneth Pitchford, Karrie Pitchford, Van Muldrow, Von Coleman, Lamont Lawson, Matthew Lawson, Latina Lawson, Anthony Pitchford, Bernard Pitchford, Jr., and Ebony Lyons; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
