Betty B. Jefferson Obituary

Betty Jane Bond Jefferson, age 73, of Richmond, VA, passed away peacefully in her home on February 13, 2026.

Born on July 2, 1952, as the second eldest child to the late William H. Bond and the late Virginia B. Bond, Betty grew up with a passion for music and finance. After graduating from Maggie L. Walker High School and attending Virginia Union University, Betty went on to a career in banking, where she was known for reputable customer service. She retired from Bank of America and its legacy institutions after 32 years of dedicated service.

Beyond her work, Betty was a devoted spouse, parent, sibling, and friend who loved singing, dining, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She especially had an affinity for gospel music, eating crabs, cruising, and making her would-be-world-famous potato salad for others’ enjoyment. Betty loved making others happy. She will be remembered most for her unwavering kindness and supportiveness to others.

Betty was also a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Baptist Church until she fell ill. She loved her church family as an extension of her biological family and was partly instrumental in her daughter also becoming a faithful member.  Possessing a true servant’s spirit, Betty’s light made others look to her for advice, support, and comfort.

Betty is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Herman L. Jefferson, Jr.; daughter, Amisha Jefferson; sister, Carol Harris; brothers, Alvin Bond, Sr. (Lawanda) and Tony Bond, Sr.; two nieces, Tracey Harris-Walton (James) and Tia Bond; two nephews, Tony Bond, Jr. (Chris) and Alvin Bond, Jr.; several great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Saint Paul’s Baptist Church (https://pushpay.com/g/spbconline; Type “In Memory of Betty Jefferson” in Address Line 1)
