Bettie Uwaeme was born to Robert Lee Burgess & Susie Mae (Alston) Burgess in Littleton, North Carolina, a small town in Halifax County. Bettie was proceeded in death by her son, Terrence Burgess, and her father, Robert Lee Burgess.
Bettie attended Richmond Public Schools, and was a graduate of Armstrong High School. Bettie began her career in phlebotomy at MCV Hospital. Bettie became a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant at a young age. Bettie was an extremely hard worker and would work constant doubles at various healthcare facilities throughout Richmond, Virginia. Bettie's last place of employment before she became ill, was at Sitter and Barfoot Assisted Living in Richmond, Virginia.
Bettie loved music, and was a fan of Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, George Micheal, Micheal Jackson, Billy Ocean, and the list goes on. Bettie loved animals and was also a horror film fanatic. She loved watching horror movies and when it was Halloween time, if you went to visit her, you would surely see her watching a Jason movie or some kind of horror film. Bettie loved her son and after his passing she would always say, "I am going to be with my baby". Bettie had a spunky attitude and was not afraid to let you know how she felt.
Bettie leaves to cherish her memories, her "Dear Momma", Susie Mae Burgess; three sisters, Janice Lizet Johnson, Lisa Mae Hardimon, and Alberta Burgess; two brother-in laws, Carl Johnson, and Thorvard Hardimon; one nephew, Carl Johnson, Jr.; three nieces, Jessica Lizet Johnson, Jarre Bishop-Hardimon and, LaShona Mae Hardimon; three uncles, and a host of cousins.
A viewing will be held from 1 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - South Chapel, 1215 Richmond Hwy., Richmond, VA, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024.
Interment will follow in Maury Cemetery.
