Beatrice B. Daughtery Obituary

Beatrice Bethea Daughtery (Bea) was born on January 3rd, 1946, to the union of the late James W and Sarah Chiles Bethea of Richmond, VA. She entered into eternal life on May 26, 2025, after a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Nathaniel (Sonny Boy) Bethea, Brother Cornelius Chiles, Sister Luella Bethea, Nephew D'Shawn A. Bethea, and Grandson Tariq A. Shabazz.

Bea accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a member of Gospel Baptist Church. She later joined Redeem Church of God in Christ.

She was educated in the Richmond Public School System and worked for numerous years at Traveler Inc. Company before moving on to Imperial Plaza Nursing Facility.

Bea was a Washington Redskins (Commanders) fan who rarely missed a game. She found joy in watching game shows and loved playing Bid Whist, Spades, and Pokeno. She loved cruising with her loved ones, and she always enjoyed spending time in the casino.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Bea raised her children into adulthood and later embraced the role of raising her first grandson with unwavering love and care. She cherished every moment spent with family and never missed a chance to check in on her loved ones, often calling just to hear their voices and make sure they were doing okay.

Bea had a vibrant spirit. She loved getting dressed up and stepping out whenever she had the chance. Music and dancing brought her joy, and she had a way of lighting up any room she entered. Her warmth, strength, and deep love for her family and friends will be remembered always.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Alvin Daughtery (Peaches), Daughters Gail Bethea (Debbie), Tonya Shabazz (Benjamin), Son Terrance L. Bethea (Sabrina), Sisters Eva M. Chiles and Cynthia Bethea, Grandsons Frankie M. Battle, Jamal H. Shabazz Sr. (Tenesha), Deontra M. Bethea, Ahmad H. Shabazz, , and Terrance L.
