Alvin E. Hopson, Jr.

Alvin E. Hopson, Jr., 73, of Richmond, Virginia was called from labor to reward early Sunday, May 19, 2024. 

Alvin, Jr., was born on July 10, 1950, to the late Alvin E. Hopson, Sr., and Frances Wright Hopson-Johnson. He attended Hanover County Public Schools, graduating from Lee-Davis High School in 1969. Alvin, Jr., served in the Army National Guard until honorably discharged in 1977. Alvin, Jr. was a licensed contractor in the Commonwealth of Virginia, who provided his talents with assisting in the construction of residential and commercial buildings throughout the City of Richmond. 

Alvin, Jr., referred to as Bubba, Junnie, and Hop was the family storyteller. He was also the sibling that remembered everything regarding family history. He was a true country boy who loved to hunt and fish on the James River and Chesapeake Bay. 

He leaves to cherish four children, Alvin E. Hopson, III (Crystal) of Petersburg, VA; Shawan T. Hopson (Demetria) of Chesterfield, VA; devoted daughter Aesha H. Brandy (Marcel) of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Shakiya Diggs of West Virginia; eleven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Alvin, Jr. is also survived by his siblings Marian H. Brooks, Eric R. Hopson, Sr. (Darlene), Letitia H. Christian, (Craig), stepfather Deacon Robert Johnson, aunt Deaconess Mary Esther Brooks, nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and friends. 

Services will be private and are being handled by Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd,. Richmond, VA.
