Alfred Jefferson

Alfred Jefferson, born May 24, 1940, in Mechanicsville, Virginia, to Thelma Loraine Jefferson and Joseph Jefferson.

He passed away on December 13, 2025, at the McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Alfred proudly served in the United States Army, a reflection of his strong sense of duty and love for his country.

He spent many years working at the Richmond VA. Trailways bus station in a customer service role.

He spent many years working in the photo processing industry, where he was known for his dedication and reliability.

In retirement, Alfred continued to do what he loved most, connecting with people, by working as a Walmart greeter for more than 15 years, where his friendly smile and warm presence made him a favorite among customers and coworkers alike.

Known for his great sense of humor and love of telling jokes, Alfred also had a deep passion for sports, current events, and music, and he greatly enjoyed lively conversations on all three. His laughter and lively spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents Thelma Loraine Jefferson and Joseph Jefferson, Brothers,  Rudolph and Luther Jefferson.  his children, Shawne and Cory Jefferson. He is survived by his loving spouse, Ruby Lee Jefferson, his son, Ronald Lee, and four grandchildren Chanel (Tiffany), Charonda, Chantel Lee, and Jasmyne Jefferson-Moore. He is also survived by his siblings Willard (Corinne), Clarence, Edward (Harriet) Jefferson, Betty Jones, Millin Jefferson, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5004 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA. 

Military honors will follow the service.
